The families of Franco’s victims still seeking justice 50 years after his death
Half a century after the death of Francisco Franco, many Spanish families are still fighting to remember, exhume, and identify their loved ones buried in mass graves following the Civil War and the dictatorship. The article follows the work of the Casa de la Memoria in Jimena de la Frontera, a project driven by people seeking to reconstruct personal histories, recover remains with the help of DNA, and create dignified burial sites.
